Entrance Examination Schedule (Master's course)

Before application, be sure to inform the to-be supervisor and check the research content or theme there. In addition, when you passed the exam, let the supervisor know, and have a meeting about your research program.

Basic information about application

General selection, Special selection for foreign students, Special selection for adult students

Application qualification

General selection
Students who graduated or will graduate before the entrance. People who are admitted to have scholartic achievement either equaling or surpassing the graduation from university/college. etc.

Special selection for foreign students
Students who graduated or will graduate before the entrance. People who has bachelorship, etc.

Special selection for adult students
People who worked at research institutes, educational institutes or companies, or who worked for more than 1 year after the graduation of the lastest university/college. The application qualification for general selection is also required.

Entrance fee

282,000 yen (in 2023, may be revised.)

Tuition fee

535,800 yen in a full year, 267,900 yen in a half year

Exemption from written examination

  1. Not applied in the case of special selections for foreign nor adult students.
  2. Application qualification : Students can apply for exemption from written examination after oral interview by the to-be supervisor as long as their grades in undergraduate course are highly achieved.
    Consult with your to-be supervisor for more datail.
  3. Examination content: oral examination for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Students can go on to general selection even if the exemption is rejected.

Schedule and contents of entrance examination

General selection

First offering :
Basic   August 22th (Tue) 10:00~11:40
Oral examination   August 23th (Wed) 9:00~15:00(scheduled)

Examination subject: English (the max score is 100.)
●Written examination
●You should submit your english test score sheet (one of the following, copy is not allowed)
●TOEIC, TOEIC-IP(taken in our university), TOEFL iBT (including TOEFL iBT Home Edition) , TOEFL ITP(taken in our university)
●The score results from exams taken within the past 2 years is only accepted.

Examination subject: Basic (the max score is 200.)
●Written examination
●Choose 4 questions from 12.
Math: analysis and linear algebras, Fourier and Laplace transform, and probability and statistics
Physics: dynamics, electromagnetics, and information basis
Chemistry: physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry
Biology: cell biology, physiology and biochemistry, and ecology )

Examination subject: Oral examination(Undecided for FY2023)

FAQ

Do test-takers have to choose the 4 questions from 12 in basic test before taking exam?

No. Test-takers can choose after starting the exam and seeing all questions. Note: Test-takers for Chemical and Material Systemes (including as the second choice) must choose more than 1 question from chemistry, and 4 questions in total. See application guidelines for more detail.

What do test-takers bring on the examination day?

In the paper test, please bring the admission ticket, pencils, and erasers. Pencil sharpener and watch are also fine. In oral exam, please bring the admission ticket.

Is it possible to apply to other universities in the case of exemption from written examination?

If you apply to exemption from written examination and win admission to BASE, please withdraw your application to other universities.

Is it possible to change the department or laboratory after entrance?

In principle, students will belong to the laboratory they applied to, but it is possible to change the department or laboratory due to various reasons.

What do students do after university?

They are playing an important role in various fields.Voice of the Graduate and after university will provide more information.

Graduate students having high research achievement can graduate early. Consult with your supervisor for more datil.
